Hobart started in Oklahoma Territory, its Carnegie Library grant was awarded in 1911, after statehood was granted in 1907.
The Carnegie Grant was $10,000.00,and construction was completed by September of 1912.
The architect was William McCanse, and the contract for the building was held by J. R. Creasey of Hobart,
The Hobart Carnegie Library continues to serve its community as a public library. Here, again we find the perfect smaller public library as envisioned by Carnegie. The compact building is simple in form and style, with no "extras" such as domes or columns to detract from its primary purpose in providing information to the public.
The library board was able to use 500.00 left over from the building fund to buy books for the collection.
